Wage gap linked to customer bias
Wage gap linked to customer bias
Researchers have helped solve the mystery of why white men continue to earn 25 percent more than equally well-performing women and minorities. Managers and business owners must pay a premium for white male employees because customers prefer them.

That does explain a lot.

Wait up and hold your horses there David Hekman. Your logic is a little bass-ackwards there.

If you've just determined that customers enjoy their experience more with white men then how has this previously unknown state of affairs been affecting employment policy? Huh? Huh? Answer me that, Mr Hasn't-Thought-It-Through-All-The-Way-To-The-End.

And how far does this go to explaining pay discrepancies in non-customer facing positions?

This sounds more like an attempt to rationalise the status quo than anything else.

Wait, what's that Assistant Professor Hekman? You're a white male? Oh, that makes all the difference.

I'm 19% more satisfied with your conclusion than I was before I knew that.

the claimed wage gap has as much veracity as the claimed gap between men and women.

What silly b.s.

Luckily for white males, it is bull. Otherwise no one would hire them.
