72-Year-Old Great-Grandmother Tasered at Traffic Stop
72-Year-Old Great-Grandmother Tasered at Traffic Stop
All right, explain this one to me? A 72-year-old great-grandmother was tasered and arrested during a traffic stop in TX. Hard to believe she would have been a threat to the police officer, but there are some extenuating circumstances. picked by bornbad 6 months ago

I find it hard to imagine the circumstances that would make me pull a taser on a 72 woman.

I find it easier to imagine him thinking..."Hmmm, wonder what an old lady would look like doing a Taser Monkey Shuffle?"
and then a little cop dressed in a red devil cop suite appearing on his right shoulder going "Do It, Do It, Do It, Do It!!"

I can't say that I agree that he should have done it. I wasn't there, but playing devil's advocate... I can see situations that could have made it an option. Little old people are not always nice. My grandpa can lay into you. Five minutes later he'll either claim he said nothing of the sort, or that he was "funnin' you." He can barely walk, so violence isn't an option, but lets assume that the lady in the story is spry for her age. What is he going to do? Physically restrain her? Pin her to the ground? The story gives no hint that she had any lingering effects from the event, so maybe it was better than risking breaking her hip.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Was he supposed to grab her by the arm, maybe leaving bruises. We don't get to see the dashcam footage so it's one person's word against another. Was he supposed to let her go since she was old? She was doing 65 in a construction area, she deserved the ticket, and if she was resisting, then she should have been arrested, and if she resisted arrest, I would rather have seen her tasered than physically pulled from her car and thrown to the ground.

Talks like Yoda, she does.
