If you paid your taxes but are claiming that the IRS somehow lost just those filings, you don't need to "work with the IRS". You merely need to show the proof. If you are trying to deflect blame or trying to stall you can certainly claim you sent it.

I do believe he is lying.

Possibly.

But he would not have personally filed witholding taxes from all the paid people nationwide that worked for his campaign. His accountant is probably working with the firm/s that have the records.

He would have to be pretty stupid to think he could get away with this. Witholding taxes are considered in trust by the IRS, there is no mitigation of them.

Maybe he is that stupid, I guess we'll find out.
