What kind of an idiot would do such a stupid thing?

One that's $115,000 poorer, I wager.

perhaps not. Home owners insurance probably paid it so the a*****e son creates a ploy with his mother where they scam $115k from the insurance company.

It is a scam not because he didn't really lose his finger, but because it is no one's fault but his own.

No, that's not true. She certainly should not have come up to him from behind. He couldn't hear her. That was stupid and reckless on her part.

Suing you own mother??? He's going to hell for sure.

Yes, she probably should have gotten his attention in a different way, like maybe standing in his line of sight, but...

he's a contractor...

I would think he's used to this sort of thing and not that easily startled to where he wouldn't know to be cautious when turning to look at her.

Unless he's a really stoopid contractor.

That was my thought. I think Bernard may be onto something in suggesting it was planned. A good-enough relationship to do work for your mom, but not good enough to refrain from suing her for a "workplace injury?"

I dunno - just seems weird.
