I once got in a heated argument at church with a friend who had absorbed too much of the news cycle and was getting increasingly paranoid that world events were signs of the coming doom.

At the time, people were worried about SARS. He added AIDS and a few other cocktails into the mix, and from that perspective, oooOOoh so scary.

... I pointed out that the Christians in the Middle Ages were probably a tad more realistically afraid of the End Times during the bubonic plague and associated wars and famines.


I also find it telling that they are afraid of "Obama, Muslims, and our country." It's psychologically hard to not have a person who looks like you (white) in power, who people tell you is "taking our homes" and threatening your guns; it's hard to not be the majority religion when viewed worldwide; it's also hard to suddenly no longer be the "top nation." Boo hoo.

The world is harder than you thought people, be happy for the priviledges you enjoy (whether you agreed with them or not).

I *really* need to start producing a product aimed at these people. They'll obviously buy anything.

I'm deadly serious here. There's a mint to be made.

Most of these people have letters written or videos made to loved ones so "we'll know what will happen when the all get called up to heaven."

Apocalypse-proof wristwatches? Rapture-trumpet-sound detecting earbuds?

These people are going to be very concerned about gloating to the un-raptured. An online messaging service that delivers their "I told you so, you godless heathen" condemnations after they are lifted up to their new spiritual bodies, while their friends and neighbors burn forever in the new hell on earth. This would probably sell well.

At first, I read the username "savedatcamp" as "savagedatcamp," and thought "That makes sense."

Ok believers, just leave the keys in all your houses and cars for us atheists before you go. Be sure to shove a frying pan down your trousers before you levitate towards heaven, especially in the southern USA; it could be a bit of a turkey shoot..

Frankly I can't wait for the rapture. It'll be a fun couple of days on Earth before the Apocalypse starts. Heathens will be drinking, smoking, sexing, and committing all sorts of sins.

It may the last party on Earth, but it'll be one hell of a party.

Something tells me the "uneasy" feeling is why they looked up and joined the RAPTURE READY forum to begin with. Hence the high concentration of uneasy feelings. Somewhat of an anxiety support group if you ask me (not that I don't believe in the possibility). I'm sure that if I looked hard enough I could find another forum with an equal concentration of people with other fears.

If it will free me of all these self righteous, bible thumping, door knocking pains in the ass, bring on Hell on Earth!

What's really throwing me for a loop is that, in all seriousness, I've been having the severe apprehensive feelings all these people have been talking about lately, and I am agnostic.
