It's one thing to pick on Sarah Palin, but another to make tasteless jokes about her kids. Give it a rest already.

But her daughter was recently on the cover of People magazine. If she gave an interview and posed for the cover, doesn't that make her fair game?

So was the Obama family. Should that make their daughters automatic targets?

I watched the Today Show this morning to see how Matt Lauer would handle the interview with Gov. Palin...

Once again... I was impressed with how Gov. Palin handled herself... and reminded of what a disappointment he is.

As soon as they turn 18.

If they'd gotten pregnant, um, yes, that would be fair game. ;)

The reason Bristol got media attention was because of the contrast between her mother's outspoken opinions and the "reality" of their own household. Plus, when they handled the pregnancy, they took it public, and put the daughter in the spotlight to show they weren't "hiding." But they put her out there. I'm not saying the jokes are warranted, but that's how she got media attention: Mom gave it to her directly.

I know why. You're saying all *other* kids do what their parents say/suggest/model? That's pretty unrealistic, they are individuals after all. And people do make mistakes, especially young people. As far as 'putting her out there', it's not only customary but obligatory for a party's Vice Presidential nominee to include their family members in important events. Comes with the territory.

I'm not saying the jokes are warranted..
That's my point, thank you. ;)

Except she was 17 when it started.
