When asked if the girls planned on fighting in public again, Desiree had a sensible answer. "Not in public, but we're still going to fight like every other sister will," she said. picked by equinox 6 months ago

actually she was not arrested. She was only detained

Flower Mound Police said prevention was the determining factor when an officer detained a 10-year-old girl Saturday at her home in Flower Mound.

According to various media reports, sisters Reagan Green, 10, and Desiree Green, 13, got into a physical altercation Saturday afternoon at a Flower Mound park on Colony Street.

Police reports state that police located the girls at their home after a witness advised police they had left the park and returned home.

Lt. Clay Pierce said that following an interview with the girls, the 10-year-old was detained and transported to the police department, but not arrested, as previous media reports had stated, because of the threat of continued violence. Pierce said both girls had visible signs of injuries.

“If we go to a call on family violence and there are signs of violence, we are required by law to protect the victim of further violence,” Pierce said. “If there are signs of injury, we are required to protect the victims.”

Because of the age of the children, Pierce declined to comment on the extent of the injuries.

“Both had signs of some injury, but upon investigation, it was determined that the 10-year-old was the aggressor,” Pierce said.

Pierce said the 10-year-old was never put in a jail cell but was taken into an investigation room, where she was questioned. Pierce said he isn’t sure how long the girl was in the room but said it was only long enough for the paperwork to be filed. She was then released to her family the same day.

“The officer provided a chance for the situation to calm down,” Pierce said.

As far as what happens next, Pierce said the police department has been in contact with the district attorney’s office, and the charge will be referred to the First Offender Program, a family counseling program for adolescents and their parents sponsored by Youth and Family Counseling.

The family was unable to be reached for comment.

all in all quite sensible police work. Of course the truth won't bring in as many viewers so more sites are keeping the incorrect story

I just can't agree even with detention. The kids were at home by the time police arrived, Mom was there. What on earth was to be gained by taking a 10 year old to jail? Do you remember being 10? Jail would have had me crying myself to sleep each night for a month. A severe talking to, a reprimand by the officers, a warning to Mom, that's all that would seem necessary to me.

True. I didn't know they were at home.

A lot of depends on what sort of injuries and how severe they were. Was it a simple fight between kids or was it much worse that. Bad enough to warrant detaining one of the children for questioning?

The law can be frustrating sometimes.
