John Travolta, Defying Scientology, Acknowledged Son's Autism
John Travolta, Defying Scientology, Acknowledged Son's Autism
According to a Bahamian police report taken in February after his son Jett's death last year, Travolta acknowledged in his own words that "Jett suffered from a seizure disorder and was autistic." That's a big no-no in Scientology. picked by bornbad 6 months ago

Good job a*****e. Of course it is too late for your child John. You sat back and allowed him to die because you believe that a galactic overlord named Xenu brought billions of people to Earth in DC-8-like aircraft 75 million years ago where he put the people around volcanoes and killed them with hydrogen bombs.

You murdered you child the same as the fundamentalists who prayed over their child instead of seeking medical treatment.

Of course your wealth ensures you don't get punished. Your fame ensures you to be safe from public scorn.

What a tragedy that people embracing "false beliefs" cause harm to their children.

Ok, first of all, it's The National Enquirer!
We all know better then to believe anything they say - come on.
They are at least twice as bad as The Daily Mail and we know better than to read that.

Second, no where does it say that he held back any treatment for his son.

He did withhold treatment because his "religion" demands he do so.

As I said, when the exact thing happens to people such as Johnny Travolta, auto mechanic people rip them a new one. Because he's a movie star too many people cut him too much slack.

Fact is, he refused to acknowledge his son's illness let alone seek treatment for it. A Scientological detoxification regime is not going to help autism or epilepsy or whatever disease/disorder he had.

Show me where it says that.

And like I said, remember, it is the Enquirer.

key word being "was".

The doctors may have suggested that they quit giving him that particular medicine but somehow I don't think the doctors told him not to take any medication.

They just stopped giving him medicine at all counting on the magic powers of the "detoxification" program created by a science-fiction author/conman.

They didn't (and still don't) know for sure what he had. At least they didn't publicly disclosed what he had. They claimed Kawasaki disease but there is no proof of that. Many believe that he was autistic.

The medicine may have stopped helping because he grew a resistance to it. It may also have stopped working because it was fighting one of the symptoms instead of the cause.

Like I said, if it was a story about some random nobody who started using a diet created by Pat Boone or even one taken from the bible to cure their child most people would be calling for the Travoltas' heads. At least here we can discuss it without drama. I've seen other discussions about The Travoltas' actions or rather inactions erupt worse than religious conversations.

I was surprised that they used any meds at all.

It probably was something other than his autism that he died from. Autism is usually not fatal.

He didn't die from autism, he died from the seizure disorder he had. Whether the two are intertwined, I don't know. My son, when he was younger, would have seizures due to sensory overload. I never gave him meds for it, and never would. However, my understanding is that Jett had ALOT of seizures, which is why he had his own nanny to watch him like a hawk.
