I think that when the mother it was implanted into terminated the other family didn't know about it. To be honest, I don't think its fair for someone to spend nine months carrying someone else's child when at the end of it you have to give the baby away. That person would also have really wanted a child otherwise she wouldn't have been trying IVF.

If you're spending the amount of money these fertility treatments cost, I can understand wanting things to meet your expectations.

Perhaps it's because I just don't understand the idea of spending so much time, money and energy on making a baby when there are so many on Earth already who need families and homes, but I don't blame these people for wanting the product for which they have paid.

These people are spending this money to have a baby with their own genetics, not to have a baby with someone else's genetics nor to have a baby they must surrender at birth.

Well its in England and so couples get the first three or four tries for free on the NHS. The problem with this is also that it was the last embryo that the couple had so they can no longer have children. At least thats what was being reported on the news.

I just wonder if this was SOP, or if they even considered discussing the situation with the 'birth mom'. If it were me, I would have carried the baby; perhaps the biological mom would have returned the favor.
