Steve, don't eat it!
Steve samples a variety of marginally edible items (silkworm larva, 14 year old cereal, dog treats, pickled pork rinds, corn smut) for your reading pleasure. picked by VoodooPeacock 2 years ago

I was hungry before I read this. In fact, I was looking forward to my TV-watching snack of cinnamon-sugar baked pita chips - the perfect food for a night of Hugh Laurie and Dave Matthews. But then, fueled by the curiosity of eighteen very stupid cats, I clicked on the above link.

And I read.

Oh. My. God.

I stopped before the silkworm larvae, but it didn't matter. The damage has been done. I will never be hungry again.

On the up-side, I think I just found the perfect diet.

Silkworm pupa was just on sale at the grocery store around the corner from me.

Who or what is "corn smut"?

That was hilarious!

I've tried my share of nasty foods - seal's eyes and fermented whale blubber are two substances I would not recommend anyone let pass their lips [You have to eat what your host presents you to be polite - Always!].

I got a huge laugh over his bit about making 'prison wine'. I've had to fire my share of... ahem.. 'indigenous hired help' for making 'home brew' out of fruit juice at dry camps. [Seriously, if you need booze that bad, at least be sneaky!]. I'd never try and drink something homemade like that, but I guess if I'm in prison, and I want to kill my liver.... there's my plan!

Good thing the episode kind of sucked, huh?

Yeah, I was a little disappointed. I hate it when they try to freak out the audience with cancer scares. And I was kind of hoping Dave would have a larger part in it. He ended up as more of a prop than a character. Oh well.

"cuitlacoche, and Aztec word reportedly meaning raven's excrement"

"when cooked, have a flavor described as mushroom-like, sweet, savory, woody, and earthy."

I am...speechless.

Wow.

I want to mock this man for what he puts into his body; but I eat hot dogs, so I feel it might be an instance of the pot calling the kettle black.
