 557,000 Miles
557,000 Miles
90-year-old Rachel Veitch of Orlando, Florida has been driving the same 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente since it was new. Now she has racked up 557,000 miles on the odometer -and it’s still going great!
Unlike her three husbands, Veitch says, the Mercury has “never lied to me, never cheated on me, and I can always depend on her.” picked by Bingo 5 months ago

one thing's for sure: they don't make 'em like they used to.

"'em" = people AND cars.

1965 seems to be the year when automakers realized they could build in "planned obsolescence" into cars.

American car makers LOVE the concept of a car that WILL wear out, become unrepairable, get traded in, go off the market....

There are people who still drive the Model T every day. Again, proper maintenance will make anything last longer and continue to work well.

Ford retooled the '64 289 engine because there were nearly NO problems with it. Last decent engine I had was that one!

That woman is my hero! I hope I can be that spry and saucy if I get to be old!
