Destino: A cartoon short by Disney, and Dali Posted: 5 months ago by Bingo
In 1946, artist Salvador Dali and Walt Disney became collaborators, and set to work on a short film called Destino. The project was abandoned with less than 20 seconds of film shot, but six decades later Disney artists completed the film using Dali's original storyboards. The result is easily the strangest thing to come out of the Disney studios since... Well, probably ever.

I have to say, for 1946, this is really ahead of it's time. Visually, it's like an acid trip, but it seems to have the wholesomeness of an old Disney cartoon. I can't say I'm surprised that Disney didn't want to release it though; it would have been too out there for the current crowd.

Okay, I actually didn't expect to like it as I have often found Dali disconcerting and Disney cloyingly sweet, but I clicked on it anyway out of morbid curiosity. And... I LIKED it! A Lot! Rock on D & D! Nice Co-Lab! Thanks for posting this delicate little treat.
