Gibraltar Airport (which is not part of Spain as a lot of readers pointed out) is a very unusual airport. To my knowledge, it is the only one where the runway actually intersects with a major highway. When a plane has to take off or land, traffic is shut down. picked by evadiva 5 months ago

That is all nice and good, but I bet you that no passenger had ever missed a plane as they were getting to the airport:

"Dammit! The traffic is backed-up! We're going to miss our plane!"

"I don't think so... That's our plane landing that they stopped traffic for..."

the Goa airport has a private Navy road thru it all with a cop and barriers but not a busy road like this
