 'Google' your tax dollars
'Google' your tax dollars
Soon you will be able to find out on what your tax dollars are being spent on. It's probably going to be something like: "a few millions here, a few millions there and then a few billions for the army" picked by XXXXXPP 3 years ago

Don't want to get any political debates started but.. if you look at what the federal government was set up to do, 100% of federal taxes should go to defense. I mean, the only reason a federal government was set up for was to protect the states and settle disputes between states. All other issues (research, financial aid, health care, etc.) should be the responsibilities of the individual states. Could you just imagine how much better things would be if states actually had to compete for residents by offering better health care, better prices from lower taxes, etc. ?

I see your point, but wouldn't that cause massive migrations between states where the states offering more benefits would get flooded and others running empty. I think it's better to have a federal governement leveling things out a bit. Not that they have to interfere with everything, but nothing at all wouldn't work ,imo.

I agree that if things changed "overnight" then there would be a huge initial surge to states with "better benefits" but those benefits would have to be offset by higher taxes to pay for those benefits. So after time there would be a kind of balance obtained where all the states would basically have the same benefits with slight variations in coverages, tax rates, etc.

I'm glad to see that this got passed even after some senators tried to block it. No matter what you think of the way the government spends our money, more transparency in the system can only be a good thing.
