 An Airport in Manhattan?
An Airport in Manhattan?
For well over a century almost a thousand acres of prime Manhattan real estate have gone to waste, as thousands of roustabouts loiter daily on that great green monument to squandered potential: Central Park. But at last a group of visionaries are trying to turn this urban void into something the city desperately needs: an international airport! picked by suebe 4 months ago

There used to be a heliport on the top of what was then the Pan Am building.

The end of that idea came with an accident that sent debris everywhere. I was renting a second floor space in the Graybar building next to the Pan Am and the next morning there was helicopter parts everywhere outside our windows.

Yikes I remember that accident. Another good reason not to put flying machines in a major city.

The east side heliports still scare me.
