i spot several every night in my backyard. they're a lot more common up north though. i have a friend up near pine city and we saw a lot of them around her place the last time i was there.

The first time I saw them was driving back from New York with Hubbin four or five years ago. We'd spotted a couple while in New York, but nothing like the fields in Ohio. It was awesome, watching the entire field catch fire.

Will be a sad day when there aren't any more.

This post made me sad, but Bingo's comment almost made me cry ! They don't have lightning bugs where you live ! ? ! That is tragic ! Fire flies are the coolest ! Even if you only want to squish them an rub the glowy stuff around. lol
