Could it be because you get your scientific news from Rolling Stone?

Heres my take on the vaccines cause autism issue. When autism was first discovered, they only knew of a few symptoms of it. With those few symptoms, they diagnosed people. Well, as time went on, they discovered new symptoms. Suddenly more people are being diagnosed. People dont take into account that it is really the same number of people that have it, they are just getting CORRECTLY diagnosed now. There isnt a rise, it is better diagnosing, or even more incorrect diagnosing as autism is the fad diagnosis now. They lump kids in the autism diagnosis without really being sure they have it. So of course, it LOOKS like the numbers are on the rise.

My kids are all vaccinated. None of them are autistic. Or at least none have showed the signs of being autistic (my youngest is too young to tell yet). If any do get diagnosed with autism and the doctor can say, without a shadow of doubt, that the vaccines caused it, oh well. I would rather my kid have a slight learning delay than be 6 feet under. We can work through autism. I would lose what sanity I have left if any of my kids were to die.

Spoken like a person with three healthy kids. Thats just it Autism is MORE than a slight learning delay, it is a lifelong disability. Measels, Mumps, Rubella, Polio are all possible death. Polio is an extremely destructive disease that leaves most people wishing they were dead.

STOP it. The ignorance is killing me. Autism is not something that has been proved or disproved to be a direct relation of vaccinations. We DON'T have enough research, and your basing judgments on those children NOT affected by it.

I work at a neurological doctors office, and one doctor has a daughter with Autism; you may have seen both of them on CNN. The government conceded to his court case, basing that in his child's case, it was related to vaccinations. He took YEARS of notes, scientific observations, and accompanied his daughter to countless appointments with pediatric neurologists. His daughter is the only known case of such documentation, and until we are able to observe and report other cases in such lengths (perhaps years from now) there is no evidence on either side.

Until you have seen this child, this lovely girl that can't even have a proper conversation, who literally RUNS into streets because she doesn't know better, I find your opinions lacking any basis of judgment. Would you want to watch your child every second, not knowing whether in the next ten minutes they will be in an uncontrollable rage or try to open the window to escape? That is what they deal with all day. I know that I would take ANY precaution necessary to avoid this.

Now, Jenny McCarthy is not the best advocate, she fights more as vengeance than for understanding. In most cases of Autism believed to be caused by vaccines, the children were given the vaccines in a short period of time, instead of months in between each one. So in fact, they were given doses of them all together. I would advise to listen to your doctor and get the proper vaccinations in a timely manner, as to avoid any possible problems. I'm not saying that for certain, but make sure also you have a CLEAN house, and you aren't just sending your child to daycare at such a young, vulnerable age. That being said, don't send your kid to daycare if they are sick either. Perhaps people should stop blaming some celebrity and look closer to home. I doubt that every person in America is the best of parents.

I think the point was that it's better to have kids alive and disabled, than dead.

And those diseases do more than just hurt the person, it hurts the entire family who has to live with the person with the disease.

Celebrity says "OMG, Vaccines cause Autism"
Doctor with decades of medical training say "Get your child Vaccinated."

I'll side with my Doctor thank you very much. She's cuter, but cuteness isn't why I see my Doctor.

That is my point. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone by saying "slight learning delay". Yes, autism is more than just that. Im just saying I would rather my child have a learning problem, or anything else that comes with autism, than have them dead from a preventable disease.

I have an idea. Let's study it. I'll vaccinate my kids and let some other person not vaccinate their kids...let's see who gets autism.

Actually I don't want to do any scientific study, just looking for a government grant for doing something I'm already doing.
