Woah... that sounds freakishly familiar.

Periodically I'll wake up in the middle of the night, feeling like a loud sound is ringing in my ears.

The really bad part is, I usually end up grabbing my wife's arm before I am fully conscious, and her reaction when somebody wakes her up unceremoniously is to start hitting them.

The last time that happened, after my wife stopped hitting me, we were both a little confused, and I was scared out of my mind. I was worried that there was someone in the house, and it really affected me for the next few days. I had the feeling that someone was following me. That's really strange.

I get this, but usually if I'm stressed out. To me, I'll begin to wake up and it sounds and feels like there's a giant lion roaring - or a REALLY strong wind - just beyond my head. It's always gone when I figure out where I am.
When I was a kid, I'd make my older sister wake up to help me find the lion. She'd be so mad I woke her up!

My friend has had this thing every night since he was a little kid where when he falls asleep it feels like there's something bad hovering over him and when it happens he can't move at all, he just has to wait for it to go away.

Not the same thing, I know, but it's a strange sleep thing too.

Me too! And when I wake up, my pillow is gone!

I sleep through explosions.*boom*
