Iconic statue of Jesus taken to pieces
Iconic statue of Jesus taken to pieces
A Catholic church is taken over by new owners. New owners are against graven images including statues of Jesus, Mary, and the like. The church is removing the statues, breaking them down and selling them on eBay.
story itself isn't so special, but the comments make for interesting reading picked by 2manyusernames 3 months ago

:D You're right about the comments.

Communists killed people in the name of atheism.

I see interspersed with some good commentary, some spiteful commentary as well. And then some that straddles the line. :(
Catholics do not, nor have they ever worshiped a statue. The statue of Jesus, Mary, Joseph or other saints are only there to REMIND us of who we are praying to, just like when you look at a picture of your loved one in your wallet. You just like to LOOK AT THAT PICTURE and be reminded of someone whom you really love. That is the only reason we Catholics have statues.
This is true.

I also wish, as another commentator posted, that the statues could have gotten sold to another Catholic church, or put up for sale where someone else could make use of them. It would have been more appropriate, and probably more respectful of those that donated them (as they typically are).

Other than that, there's some wacky comments in there. Some make me laugh, some make me just confused as to what the poster intended. Hah

What really should have happened though, in the comments, is more respect, from both sides. Christians aren't being a very good witness by alienating each other. There's no reason why we have to have such infighting.
