Texas to revise history textbooks: liberals out, Limbaugh and Gingrich in.
Texas to revise history textbooks: liberals out, Limbaugh and Gingrich in.
The Texas State Board of Education review committee is preparing to vote on a draft of proposed standards for history textbooks. Noting that the draft has “nothing about liberals,”

The first draft says students should be expected “to identify significant conservative advocacy organizations and individuals, such as Newt Gingrich, Phyllis Schlafly and the Moral Majority.” [...] Others have proposed adding talk show host Rush Limbaugh and the National Rifle Association. picked by Bingo 3 months ago

The Texas Board of education is run by creationists. So nothing good will come out of this.

Better to sue them now for unconstitutional conduct and get them removed from the board.

Why are politicians determining the content of the school textbooks? Shouldn't that be the role of the educators?

Yeah, we are here and Yes, Texas Legislators are that stupid... It seems like they went through school, but school didn't go through them...

My sister lives in Houston and she does home school her son... trust me, it's not any better... Private School is recommended when the Public ISDs are going D'UH, but nothing replaces the social interaction a school environment brings...

(Unless things have changed in the last 10 years or so...)

In the US, "public" school textbook content for the whole country is designed in only two states, Texas and California. The books themselves are fabricated by AND BOUGHT FROM independent private publishers.

Oh, I wouldn't really pull them out of public school. I do love my friends that homeschool and I totally respect and support their right to choose it, but the homeschool community is super conservative here. I don't think I'd fit in.

I think it is time that this right gets revoked in Texas...
