 Fire put out by aquarium
Fire put out by aquarium
A transformer for an aquarium starts a fire.
The fire causes the aquarium to break.
The resulting water puts out the fire.

Poor fish. :(

...I don't suppose the family had seafood for dinner to top it all off, hm?

Poor fish, indeed. The article says the tank was 4' wide, but doesn't mention the length or height. (Unless tanks are measured by width-height-depth nomenclature, where "width" is actually the measurement of the typically facing side, and depth is the measurement from front-facing to back-facing sides?)

But it sounds like a pretty big tank, and if it was any kind of hobby, it was possibly a sizable investment to stock it with both live and environmental elements.

The article is pretty sparse on details. A little more info is found in this one.

This happens all the time. Failure to properly secure wiring off the floor and with proper drip loops leads to water getting to outlets and many electrical fires.

There is a 4ft wide tank that is a standard 55 gallon that is sold in most pet chains like PetSmart and even Walmart.
