'the planet is brutally powerful' ...

looks like the planet can chalk up a powerful image.. but the comparison is utterly useless.

so, yeah; tasteless/graceless.

How many Hiroshimas? How many Jonestowns? How many Ted Bundys? How many Jack in the Box salmonella outbreaks?

Really they could have gone so many places with this idea.

Tasteless. IMO it will always be "too soon" for 9-11 jokes or other similar events. As PulsisX points out...you don't see many jokes about Hiroshima and for good reason.

I'm pretty surprised that it got out of the marketing meetings with a majority thinking it was a good idea.

What was the last thing that the mayor of Hiroshima said?

"What the fuck was that?"

But then that's a joke, and it's supposed to be offensive... This ad, though perhaps not the most logical of choices; was not intended to have any humorous appeal; it was intended to compare the seriousness of what we face today worldwide with a tragedy that occurred several years back... An image we can all identify with, and the seriousness of what lyes before us.

Now, considering the emotional state of most people; this was unwise because the message is lost in the controversy. But I don't find it tasteless personally.

If this is what it takes for people to listen, then maybe we need it.

« Moe it will always be "too soon"
No matter what topic, there will ALWAYS be someone to find it offensive. Maybe sometime it is just better to be bold and offensive, like a big giant slap in the face.
