Whoa! So what came first, the footed snake or the feetless snake?

Or maybe this one got some anti-smite powers or something...

"So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this,
"Cursed are you above all the livestock
and all the wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.

And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel."

Genesis 3:14-15

BTW that last part is a prophecy, the serpent (Satan) struck Man's heel (Jesus) who will later crush his head (at the end of all things when Satan is defeated).

Snakes lost their legs and feet. Many species commonly sport vestigial limbs, anacondas for one. All snakes retain the genetic structure for limbs, and a mutation or hormonal imbalance can activate the growth.

Interesting, but not really biblical.

According to the article, mutated snakes with two heads are considered a lucky talisman. Mutated snakes with one leg apparently aren't (which explains why it should be quickly stomped to death).

Article: Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol.
God help the first person that attempts to mug this woman.

I'm going to give an anaconda some hormones, and take over Tokyo.

*Edit* Oh, was that the joke? Well, whatever. I haven't looked for pictures of Godzilla in a while.

This is one really wild mutation. Just goes to show you how some mutations really can create macro changes in an organism...

There ARE legless lizards which are not snakes.... this is definitely interesting. The snake had just eaten something... I could imagine it eating an alligator which burst it's stomach, and thrust out a foot... Hard to tell in the photo. Plus it seems to be missing it's head.

How near to industrial wastes was it laid? Yikes!

I'd like to see a closer photo before making a judgement. It almost looks to me like he snake has some sort of herniation (intestines protruding through the muscle wall) out that side and the arm of some prey has poked through the weakend muscle wall and skin. I say this because 1) notice the diameter of the snake at the location of the arm..... it almost looks like a recent kill. 2) look at the bulge where the arm is coming out.... looks like a herniation.

I think you're right. There's an obvious bulge where the arm is, and if someone opens the snake, they will likely find the remains of prey in the area. I doubt the snake would have lived much longer even if the woman hadn't beaten it to death. That's a pretty serious injury.
