Patrick Swayze's courageous battle has ended.
Patrick Swayze's courageous battle has ended.
Patrick Swayze has died after a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. I cared very much for this actor. I'm so sorry he had to suffer and die young.

I wasn't a huge Swayze fan but he always seemed like an honest and genuine guy (a rarity in Hollywood). RIP

You courageous soul. Thank you for the many hours of entertainment and enjoyment, as well as for your example of noble struggle against a horrible foe.

Rest well, warrior.

Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into viewers' hearts with "Dirty Dancing" and then broke them with "Ghost," died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
RIP, my good man. You are now the "Ghost".

This is very sad. :(

He was an inspiration with his courageous battle with an evil disease. My grandfather died of pancreatic cancer and it was horrible watching him suffer the way he did.

Patrick also never seemed to get sucked up into the Hollywood lifestyle, married to the same woman for many years, lived his life privately.

He will be missed.

Even tho I knew it would come, it didn't make it any less sad. I liked him as an actor and as a person. RIP Mr. Swayze.

May he rest in peace now free from his pain. This hits really close to home as most of you know. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

The Angels will dance a little dirtier tonight, and it's alright.

I actually met Patrick Swayze a few years ago at the Celebrity Fight Night event in Phoenix, Arizona. I was standing with my back to a truck which was up for auction. I heard someone behind me, and when I turned around, he was climbing into the truck bed looking through the window. He was going to be bidding on it. We chatted about some of the car up for auction and some about the event. I only chatted with him for a few minutes, but he seemed like a really good guy and not a typical snobby celebrity. RIP sir

In weird way Patrick Swayze had a huge influence on my life. I have always liked history. When I was very little I would listen to my sister read American Girl books out loud to my mom, but I was more fascinated with science than anything. It wasn't until I was 7 or 8 and saw a rebroadcast of John Jakes's "North and South" staring Patrick Swayze did I truly fall in love with history. I became enthralled with the Civil War and read everything I could get my hands on about it. Last spring I graduated with a BA in history and plan on starting in a Master's program soon and maybe even get a PhD someday. While my area of historical interest my have changed over the years, I still hold a special place in my heart for the Civil War.

Rest in Peace good Sir. You will be missed and thank you for your inspiration.

I think I may have to dig out my "North and South" DVDs and have a marathon.

I can't speak for the other branches of our military, but I never once pulled duty (nighttime barracks watch) at a Marine Barracks that didn't have a copy of Roadhouse on VHS for you to watch during the long night.

That said, I enjoyed Point Break equally as much, for the same reasons. Swayze and Keanu -- come on!

R.I.P., Patrick. I will be "Swayze Crazy" for life.
