Man builds his own pickup truck from scrap
Man builds his own pickup truck from scrap
It took him eight months to build the truck in his one-car garage. He used Ford axles, a Chevrolet bed, an Oldsmobile engine and the frame from a 1949 International. picked by proverb 3 months ago

We have a Franken-truck as well. It's a 48 Willys with it's original frame, a chevy rear-end and a chevy engine with some misc Wagoneer parts mixed in.

Car guy Hubby says it's registered under it's original drive train make and model. It doesn't, however have a VIN which can be assigned at teh DMV.

Usually by drivetrain, like above. But some places make you go by what it looks like.

As for emissions, depending on the state you have to meet emissions standards of the newest component on the vehicle.

For example, in California you're not supposed to be able to take say, an '89 Cummins CB4 and throw it in a '95 F-150.

Some states just have to meet modern emissions though, and some don't care at all.

I'm trying to put a Lexus 1UZFE (V8) in a '90 4Runner, and I plan on just keeping it registered as a 4Runner instead of a Lexus SC400.
