Dad Catches Foul Ball Only to Watch Daughter Throw it Back
Dad Catches Foul Ball Only to Watch Daughter Throw it Back
Steve Monforto was at the game with his wife Kathleen and two little girls Emily and Cecilia. After Monforto caught the ball, he gave it to 3-year-old Emily — who tossed it back in the direction of the field.

When she looked at her dad for his reaction, he just hugged her. picked by 2manyusernames 2 months ago

Excellent! I loved this. Little girl doing what little girls do and a dad doing what a dad should do.

Really cheered up my day.

I'm from Australia and not really exposed to baseball................but this dads reaction transcends ones knowledge (or lack there of)of the game. I watched this as i ate my lunch today, not looking forward to the rest of my workday (BAAAD DAY). Being a dad myself, knowing how in that split sencond how he felt (at losing something)but looking into a daughters eyes and having that feeling swept away with the innocence that would have been there.it really has made my day today! thanks for the post...awesome!!

So who did the ball end up hitting on the lower stands?

I love Dad's moment of transition from "OMG - you just tossed it back" to "OMG - you're my daughter and I love you, you souvenier-flawed-but-honest little human thing!"

I think Dad and Daughter should get signed baseballs from both teams, for good karma earned. Dad would cherish them, and they'd be great keepsakes for Daughter (along with the video).

this is why I enjoy Plime. I just read the heartbreaking story of the buddy who wore a dress to his friends funeral, then I find this heartwarming story of a sports fan being a dad first, fan second.

I don't comment often, but I really enjoy this website and want to say thank you to the many who find these incredible articles.

Hahaha, brilliant. I love the transition of the guy's face from "Oh noooo!" to "Awwwww" :)

Very cool find.

There are dads out there that do not react this way.
Thank goodness, this wasn't this kind of dad.

For such a short clip, there is such a broad range of quality emotions on display;

The excitement of a rare experience, the showing of family as his priority, the shock of losing a souvenir, then the instant realization that the ball isn't what is important.

When a clip so short can instill so much humanity, it is a much welcome reminder of the good things in life and that there are good people everywhere... especially amid all the cynicism and despair so often portrayed in the news.

I saw this over and over on the news and was so touched by the dad's love for his daughter and her excitement at throwing the ball. It really shows what is most important in life.

It was nice that the Phillies gave her another ball.

I think that is a temperament we could all aspire to. The father, and the daughter, and his wife (whose reaction you may have missed).

What a happy family they seem like.

I hope she got the ball back.
The team gave them a ball to replace the one she threw.
A reporter asked the girl what happened, and she said, "I had the ball, and then I didn't." Awww.

I am rather afraid that my first reaction would be a big WTF-face.

<---(i can't help but recognize a jarring simultaneous resonance and dischord with my pic)
