12-year old boy is preparing for a sex change
12-year old boy is preparing for a sex change
A 12-year old boy has returned to school after the holidays with a new name and dressing as a girl. This is in preparation for his eventual sex-change operation. Parents of his classmates were upset and felt they should have been told of this personal decision. picked by doodlechild 2 months ago

im all for sex changes, but 12 is way too young, even though i know many at that young age already know they are in the wrong body! if dressing up like a girl makes him feel happier, then he should be able to, its just the bullying thats the problem...

I think she is very brave. Children, especially at that age can be very cruel. I hope the best for her!

I would think that this would be a case where the child should have started in a different school after the surgery. A new start in all respects.

The child hasn't had surgery or even started hormone therapy at this stage.

Sex Change goes beyond misleading in this case and is an outright lie.

At present, the 12 year old boy is attending school dressed as a girl.

However, given the source and the lack of details I'd doubt even the veracity of that.

I agree. It's strange that we have all these cases lately of people dressing differently and declaring they're now a different gender.

That's like declaring I'm a T-Rex because I run around naked, roaring and eating raw steaks.

Although it should be noted that your scenario would be much cooler.

That's a tad disrespectful.

Seriously. What the hell, dude?

Suffering from gender identity disorder is not the same as pretending to be a dinosaur. You fail.

First off, "you fail" is really played out.

Secondly, people can do whatever they want to themselves, and believe that they are whatever gender, but I am not going to say that someone who merely dresses like a girl in fact now a female. It is just patently ridiculous.

I'm not going to call someone who puts an astronaut suit on an astronaut, or a stethoscope a doctor. It takes a certain amount of doing to become such things.

I think you are in the wrong here. You are in fact saying that the entirety of the feminine identity boils down to clothing. Reducing a lifetime of social development, learning, and culture to nothing more than threads.

I think it takes more than an outfit to make a woman.

Yeah I guess I could have posted a better analogy.

But I did it for the lulz.

Why do the parents of the other students need to know about the child's personal life? Should I inform the parents of my son's classmates that he still sucks his thumb at 7, or that he sleeps with a stuffed eeyore? Personal decisions are just that. PERSONAL. No one else needs to know.

T1000, this isn't just about wanting to put on a pair of fishnets and play pretend. It's about feeling like your body has completely betrayed you. You're confusing "transgender" with "transvestite". They're two very different things.

Imagine being that miserable in your body and feeling like you're some sort of genetic mistake. Suicide rates among those who identify as trans have been reported as anywhere between 30% and 50%. Please, actually look up Gender Identity Disorder and read about it and realize that it's not the same as pretending you're a princess or an astronaut or a frigging dinosaur, for chrissakes.

Also...You excuse your offensive little joke as "doing it for the lulz" but saying "you fail" is played out? Ok.

Edit: Now you're upvoting yourself too? Oook.

Also a joke.

And I can't stand negative numbers.
