 Flavored Cigarette Ban Takes Effect
Flavored Cigarette Ban Takes Effect
Cigarettes with fruit or herbal flavorings can no longer be made, imported, or sold in the U.S. under an FDA ban that went into effect today.

The prohibition covers "cigarettes that contain characterizing flavors such as herb, spice, or fruit flavors, including cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, clove, strawberry, grape, or cherry," the agency said. picked by missy1979 2 months ago

I will miss the cloves lots, but I'm glad they left menthol alone.

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned, menthol is not a flavoring but an essential nutrient.

If the concern is with making an unhealthy product less attractive to youngsters, let's also take the cartoon characters off of sugar- and fat-laden snacks.

That is such crap. Just because they think kids will want to smokem means that adults can't have them?

News Flash!

Kids want to smoke normal cigarettes too, taking away the flavor is just one more way to making going to bars unpleasant (if I have to smell it, it might as well smell good.)

My local liquor store has cloves still. They are no longer labeled as cigarettes, but are now "cigars" and are in packs of 12 versus packs of 20.

All they are going to do is make the flavoring for these in little bottles, like a visine bottle.

NooooooooOOOOoooo!

I actually had a convo about this with a fine tobacco store owner at the beach. They have to get rid of almost their entire cigarette section.

Can someone smuggle me some Springwater Vanilla, plz?

ETA: It is kinda true though...every kid I knew that smoked in HS started with cloves, myself included.

Fine them, go to jail, perform community service? What a crock of s**t.

I was literally going to buy a pack of cloves tomorrow morning. I do so once every autumn season. It's the only time I ever smoke.

I am so f**king sick of all of these restrictions placed on tobacco companies. Now the government controls the flavor of the cigarette too? Tobacco is still a big cash crop, you'd think they'd embrace all the revenue they're getting from taxes instead of shutting it down at every turn.

And for the record I am a non smoker. I just can't stand seeing anyone's rights being stripped away.
