New Light on the Plight of Winter Babies
New Light on the Plight of Winter Babies
Children born in the winter months already have a few strikes against them. Study after study has shown that they test poorly, don't get as far in school, earn less, are less healthy, and don't live as long as children born at other times of year. Researchers have spent years documenting the effect and trying to understand it. picked by nateebiinature 2 months ago

I saw a news report about this yesterday. They were saying that it seems that many of the "winter babies" were born to teenagers - "prom babies".

Really need to look at the study group and see if you can really make a broad statement. I doubt it.

I'm doubting the study as well.
I have an Aug "baby" and an Oct "baby"... both are ridiculously smart.

Uhhh... who said they were, Professor?
What I said was that I agreed with Suebe and doubted the study precisely because I have kids born in both Summer and Winter and both are incredibly ridiculously amazingly smart.

Well, I was just saying that neither of your kids you mentioned are winter children. No point in bringing them up, since you aren't exactly disproving the study.

(By the way I think is bull anyway.)

It wouldn't surprise me how ridiculously smart you two Winter babies are... not one bit. :)

Sheesh... maybe I just wanted to brag a little? Have a little sympathy for an empty-nester Professor :)

Besides, Kero her hubby and Subosis disprove the study.

Hahaha it's cool. Bragging is always good.

For the record, I was born in mid September.

I think what she's trying to say professor, is that she was born in January.

I can see an pre-historic reasoning for winter babies getting a bad start to life, but really doubt this study. All three of my kids are winter babies (2 December, one January) and all of them are VERY intelligent.

I'm a Christmas Eve baby and don't fall into any of the standards for winter babies that they describe.

I think the study is Hog Wash.
