 Census Worker Found Hanged
Census Worker Found Hanged
A part-time Census Bureau field worker was found hanged in Kentucky with the word "fed" scrawled across his chest.

Despite the violent rhetoric and anti-government protests that dominate the national news, I find it difficult to believe this guy was hanged because of his federal affiliation. picked by cecilberman 2 months ago

I dont find it so difficult to believe that he could have been killed because of his job. We aren't so far removed from those "good old days" and many people are clamoring for a return to them. If It comes out that he was killed for sleeping with another man's wife, or whatever... I'll accept that... but I wont turn a blind eye to the possibility that this could be a crime committed against this man simply because Michelle Malkin tells her constituents to boycott and the evils of the Census...

He was probably a revenuer after JoeBob's still, or weed field. Shoulda known better. *sarcasm*

It's sad that these kinds of things still happen in my beautiful state. KY ranks third in marijuana production in the US, and you hear of people getting caught in bear traps on public land fairly frequently. It wouldn't surprise me if he stumbled on something unawares, and was silenced for it.

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

The census from a geneology standpoint is terrific- but wasn't the census created to fill in gaps that state records might have missed? Isn't that an antiquated notion and a b*****dization of the system?

I saw this comment on a YouTube video about the 9/12 march:

GodotheInfantry (3 hours ago)
"LOL, one census worker down! Maybe this is the spark we need to start the revolution. C'mon people! Let's take the Federal Reserve down, just like our forefathers fought the crown."

When someone reacted to it, he wrote:

"I am laughing my ASS OFF! LOL Don't give me any bulls**t about his personal life...I DONT CARE. He was a fed; a goose-stepping neo-gestapo. I hope that the G20 patriots can make it all the way to the summit, and they start the revolt. I am with them!"

There's no doubt in my mind that they're capable of violence.

It doesn't make any difference what the cause of his death was. Did you read what that teabagger wrote? The one cheering about it? He's celebrating the guy's death, just because he's a census taker. And he's hoping for even more deaths. Anybody who doesn't believe these people are dangerous is naive.

Really? A harsh YouTube comment?

I think anytime you see an anonymous commenter taking joy in someone's death, you can be pretty sure they don't speak for the majority.

And unthinking people on both sides do it. On Plime, when Robert Novak died, someone called him an a*****e and hoped he rotted well. Would it be fair to say all Plimopotamuses felt that way? No. Most people can hold strong convictions without feeling the need to defame the dead.

I'm not new to the Internet, nor do I think a single comment represents the majority. YouTube is notorious for its comments, but that isn't the only place I've seen the kind of thinking represented by what I quoted. There is a dangerous element among the vocal Right, and I'm not the first to point it out. It would be a mistake to ignore it. The OP said, "I find it difficult to believe this guy was hanged because of his federal affiliation." While I recognize that there are other possibilities, I don't find it difficult to believe at all.

My point is.... If you know anything about that area... Of which I know a GREAT deal about... you'd know that this is HARVEST season of the nation's "weed basket"... which is in the Daniel Boone National Forest. People are suggesting this murder has something to do with a teabagger or glenn beck.... I know through people who know the sherriff in the area that this census worker was most likely trodding through someones crop and died for it!

I realize that. It's been mentioned in a number of reports. That doesn't change what I said about the YouTube poster, who represents a dangerous element on the lunatic fringes of the Right. In HIS mind, the man was killed because he was a "fed", and that was just fine with him. He apparently hopes to see more gov't workers murdered.
