Not sure what I think about this. It was a crime, and he has been a fugitive for a long time.

But the victim wants the whole thing dropped.

Odd that we hear about this happening now, when there has been so much stuff about the Manson family in the news.

I was in Zurich around the time all this was happening. Though, hanging around the train station, not the airport. Bummer, though. I would have loved to have actually seen this go down.

I know how I feel about this. I hope they bring him back and fine the sh*t out of him, make him do 1000 hours of community service, and spend at least 3 months in jail. So the girl wants it dropped, of course she does, it was 30 years ago and she has moved on from it. However, it doesn't negate the fact that he PLEAD GUILTY, then thumbed his nose at the American judicial system and left. He should be punished for eluding prosecution.

Maybe we could make a right in the world and give him a cell next to Charlie...along with a big shank and some private time.

Los Angeles prosecutors move up in rank for ever case they successfully prosecute. Should Polanski make it back to Los Angeles, the prosecutor in his case, if successful, stands to make a lot of money via job promotion and notoriety. In the city of Los Angeles, even the innocent get prosecuted for a promotion or are forced by the prosecutor to entry a no contest plea. I'm sure the judge in the Polanski case is also looking to get ahead on the back of Polanski.

Polanski, IMHO, is, and will always be, a child rapist. The fanfare and distorted popularity he's received all these years are a disgrace to himself ,the industry and to those who have turned a blind eye to his CRIME.

His victim, as any rape victim, certainly has the right to not want to testify. However, that should not give him an automatic pardon.

f**k that noise.

It surprises me that so few Plimates posted comments about this topic.
