 It's In The Blood
It's In The Blood
Menstruation is often seen as embarrassing or disgusting and is rarely discussed. But some feminists are determined to break this taboo picked by suebe 2 months ago

Ew. Blood as lipstick... not something I'll partake in (though I guess it's just a shade worse than the bat guano in most lipsticks...) Blood just doesn't strike me as a substance we want to be actually ingesting.

But the overall concept is nice enough, I guess.

It's just blood. It's not anything gross, but having said that, I don't go out of my way to drink blood, or taste blood, or rub blood on any part of my body.

I've never understood why it's such a taboo topic though. I've never treated it as such...Is that wrong?

Absolutely not. I have a male friend who is totally fine to talk to about it. My boyfriend, on the other hand, is repulsed by it. I don't understand what is so horrible about it.

I don't think it's taboo, but it is private. I don't wanna talk about it, or hear about yours.

We don't talk about other bodily functions, so why do we feel the need to discuss this?

I've never met a woman I can't talk about my period with... I'm guessing men don't feel the need to talk about it because they're men...? Its not something they go through, so what's the point, right? But idk, I'm not a man...

I always embraced my period. Sex during my period was awesome. Messy, but, awesome. Lots of preparations but well worth it.

I don't miss it, though.

From the article...

"Menstrual activism certainly isn't new. In 1970, in The Female Eunuch, Germaine Greer memorably wrote that "if you think you are emancipated, you might consider the idea of tasting your own menstrual blood – if it makes you sick, you've a long way to go, baby."

Sorry, that is plain disgusting. What does tasting your period have to do with emancipation? Using it as lipstick? Ewww.

I think couples should be able to. It's the person you are spending the rest of your life with and should feel comfortable with. I say good for you!

My bf and I used the "aunt flow" one a couple of weeks ago hehehe

Aunt Flow... Hahahaha!!!!1!!11.

I always just ask my wife if she cut through one of her pussy arteries. lollerz.

Or sometimes I'll be like, "Is there ketchup in your cooch?" :D

I refer to the menstraul flow as a "c**t blood flood". lololololol

She loves it when I say stuff like that. hahahaha. ^_^

Sometimes I'll say something like "Are you just being a b***h or did your period start?" Sometimes I guess wrong though. lol

Sometimes when she's mean I run and get a tampon for her and throw it at her face.

I will embrace it when it stops sucking. There is nothing pleasant about the menstrual cycle except that it is one of many signs you are fertile.

The bloating, the cramps, the mood swings, the tampons, the smell. I don't like it any more than I enjoy having to pee. It is necessary, it's a sign of normal health, but it is inconvenient and annoying.

All of this, exactly. It's natural and beautiful and a complete pain in my ass.

It doesn't help that Steve takes the DEP approach so while I'm cramping and weeping and raging all at once, my 11 year old boyfriend is all "If I yank on the string, what sort of phrases will you say? Lolololol. What if I yank it out and smack you across the forehead with it? What will you do then? Hehheheheh."

To which I usually respond along the lines of "You think I'm FAT DON'T YOU. I hate you. I want some goddamn brownies. DON'T TOUCH ME I'M REPULSIVE."

Also, ew, lipstick? All grossness aside, on a completely practical level it gets sticky and smelly as it dries. Not something I want on my lips, kthx.

i too do not see what is taboo about it. especially pissed at hindus who do not like women to go to temples when they are having their periods. might have made some sense when they did not have pads and there were leakages but no reason nowadays. happy some people are beginning think like this here.

How this is any different from taking blood from a wound and using it as lipstick, I don't know. Not a bad color for lips, if you can stomach it like a real man.
