Precedent.

« zebulor : There is no liberal media in America- only moderately conservative and very conservative media!
No, there is only Extremist Media.

Why do you think the weathermen always predict the worst? Here in Dallas, we were told to stock up on supplies and take shelter when Hurricane Rita hit the coast...over 300 miles away. When it did come north, it missed the area by many miles AND it wasn't that damaging when it did get this far north.

But the media wants you to watch THEIR channel, so they (feel that they) have to be more sensationalistic than the next channel.

Fox has decided to take the "conservative, anti-democrat" view and CNN and MSNBC has taken the "liberal, anti-republican" view.

Which irritates a conservative libertarian like me.

He needs Republican/Independent support, and that's where Fox News comes in. I would think the smart thing to do would be to use Fox News, not avoid it
There is no reasoning with fox news. Seriously, unless he were to surrender all his political beliefs and become a republican fox news would continue to bash him. They are incredibly conservative, and have never even pretended to be otherwise.

« tvirus : What was the point of this? Those who watch FOX will only see this as fuel for their "Obama is leading an evil government takeover" story.
That's was I thought.

He is pretty big on this whole unity thing, but there I suppose he recignizes a lost cause when he sees one. In the words of the great Glen Beck, the viewers are all zombies. Mindless drones that do that they are told.

You're an example of the necessity of presenting a worst-case scenario. The public can become very blasé, unless they've experienced the full effects of a hurricane. All it would have taken was a wobble in the storm's path for it to have hit you full force. Being far from the coast only protects you to a degree. In 2005, Hurricane Wilma crossed the entire state before it hit us, and the damage was unbelievable.

This is in no way an apology for Fox News, btw. I just think comparing disaster preparedness to news broadcasts is apples and oranges.

So... I didn't read any comments on here...

But my question is. According to Plimers, what is the CORRECT news choice? One that NEVER lies or gets anything wrong. And one that never asks the right questions.

There is a difference between "Free Press" and just reporting whatever you want, however you want.

I agree it's time that all news organizations (not just Fox) are held accountable for reporting misinformation. I believe the people deserve ALL THE INFORMATION possible, measured out in a fair, level, and unbiased presentation. I should not have to go to the BBC for news about the US, that is ridiculous.

I mean, Fox News is no less biased than MSNBC. The only news channel that I find tolerable is CNN, even though it leans slightly left (much less so than it did 10-15 years ago).
I don't know about the rest of what you said, but I agree with the above statement 100million%. There's not an honest news channel out there.

No one is saying there is a perfect network, there is just an overwhelming feeling that fox is one of the worst.

If I have to present any evidence it would be this.
Fox news has pretty much rallied conservatives across the nation into a hateful protest fueled by lies and fear aimed at our current administration. news aside, they are doing more harm than good by consistently spreading fear and inciting hate.

Besides, "perfect" is completely subjective. My perfect station is going to act different from yours. As evidenced by Fox's large audience, for some people, sensationalism and half-truths with ample commentary are "perfect."

With all due respect, that was probably the worst coverage of that story you could have used as your example.

In summary it reads as:

"We at The Washington Times are a bunch of whining ingrates who are sore that, despite the money we made from the coverage that we were able to provide through a privilege, we can't make more money as our privilege has been taken away."
