Yer Monthly Blues
Menstrual activism is showing up in the arts.

Over the course of three years, Vanessa Tiegs created 88 paintings to affirm the bright red cycle -- the hidden forbidden monthly renewal process. Her paint? Her menstrual blood picked by suebe 1 month ago

I understand what she's trying to do, but this still kinda grosses me out.

She could at least do a nice sunset scene or something..it looks like she just wiggled her bottom over the canvas and called it art.

As did I.

This was better than when Warhol peed on cavas, at least this takes on a shape.

I find it disgusting. Next we will see guys painting with their s**t.
And if she can get away with it, why can't they?

not with s**t, but weird nonetheless:

Is it disgusting because it's blood, or because it's menses?

The above was painted by Pete Doherty...using his own blood. Blood as a medium for art isn't new.

I downvoted. Sorry. I love you, suebe, but as a rule I downvote anything that makes me throw up in my mouth.

less disgusting. For one it doesn't look like a bodily fluid, for another, regular blood doesn't have that same weird texture.

Meh. At no time in a person's life have they ever lived in a house of s**t. The uterine lining? Everyone's lived in that. Just saying, menses is not really a waste product in the sense that it is getting rid of something the body doesn't need, it's getting rid of something the body has too much of. A man making a painting with his own cum, or perhaps saliva, would be a closer comparison.
