The original post was updated. I would say this is a dupe.

This is the story of the father's assistant. It's new information.

I was also going to link this story about criminal charges.

Why is this a dupe? I kind of enjoy only having to read the first page of Plime's news section and not have to dig up the original post to find the most recent developments. Because, honestly, if I don't know there's new info there, I wouldn't know to look for it.

It is a dupe because the story he linked to was updated already with the information he was posting.

Whether you only want to read the first page or not is certainly not the issue or even to be considered. Imagine what Plime would look like if it wasn't called a dupe once a story fell to the second page.

If that's the case, you really should change your heading. The hoax part is a dupe.

I honestly don't think it would be much different than it already is: People post links to new news articles. He posted a link to a new news article. Assuming I was at all interested in following the details of the case, should I be expected to dig up the original post for Michael Jackson's death every time new information surfaced?

I don't either. If a post contains an "update to this" link, which this clearly is, and is actually an update it's not a dupe.

Doesn't seem that hard to figure out.

If they press criminal charges against Heene, does that mean that we won't get to watch his kid fart and vomit on national TV any more?

A lot of news sources do that. Who goes back to the original post to check that? It's old news when you read the original headline and description.

This isn't dupe.

That's why YouTube was invented.

I would like to think that this was not completely premeditated, that he had not plan on using his kids like this from the start. I would like to think that it happened something like this.

Richard was working on his balloon, planning his media stunt, one not involving his kids, but it wasn't completely ready yet. The balloon gets released accidentally, whether it was Richard or Falcon's fault doesn't matter. Richard basically goes "Oh Sh*t!" and starts to improvise, helps Falcon hide and tells him it's for the show. Then calls the media without thinking about the backlash that's going to take place when the world finds out that it was all a hoax.

I would like to think that is what happened. Is it? Not likely. But it's better than to think that he planned to use his family in such a way from the start.

It seems like the dad was pretty desperate for attention. I feel bad for his family.
