It is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, and certainly not desirable, as one's hat keeps blowing off- Woody Allen

I had to go back and look through this persons posts to see why they are getting downvoted for a harmless quotation.

God, some of you guys are so childish. Who cares if this person responds in mostly quotes?

Do they deserve to be downvoted into oblivion because of this?

I am sorry that not everyone here fits in your cookie-cutter ideal of how Plimeate should respond to posts.

Get over it.

He/she isn't a Plimate if they never offer up their own opinion or contribute an idea or viewpoint that nobody had shared or thought of...they have turned themselves into a hub for ill fitting quotes that don't serve any purpose besides to stunt the comments. Because of that, downvote.

Its speed is never more than the normal speed of light. It arrives at the destination faster than c should allow because it is skipping some of the intervening distance.

In regards to the people that have a problem with ConfuseUs.

STOP. CENSORING. PLIME.

Seriously, his quotes are usually much more relevant and insightful than the retarded-ass comments that usually get posted.

I LIKE the woody allen quote, it made me laugh. Sure, its not something that he created but he still had to go out and find a funny relevant quote and for that reason I upvote.

I didn't like the "my brain hurts" quote, it is a waste of space. Did I downvote it? no, of course not. It wasn't offensive in anyway and it wasn't spam so why would I downvote it.

Anyways, this s**t has to stop. seriously

Last time I looked, a "Plimate" was someone who had an account here and contributed to the site as a whole in a positive fashion.

So far all of the quotes I have seen CofuseUs post are relevant to the topic at hand, and none of them are insulting or argumentative or childish.

Who cares who said it first? I quote alternate sources of knowledge all the time here. EVERYONE does. No one has 100% original content.

His original post actually was highly rude, and said something to the effect of me being downvoted to level 1 if I posted something like this again. Some ridiculousness. That's what got him the dv.

Something about the common peoples' intelligence nowadays:

"How fortunate for leaders that the people do not think."

It's a quote. Interpret it, understand it, and believe it.

Oddly enough, by Hitler. Strange, isn't it, how history repeats itself?

Actually Jerry the second half of his post was a comment that someone else edited in. It said something like "You've been warned about your quotes. Keep it up and you'll be a -1 in no time"

They were talking to ConfuseUs, not the other way around.

I just want to say that some people have too much time on their hands. While this is often said about people doing silly things on the internet, these boffins actually took the laws of physics into their own hands.

It is on the Daily Mail though so take with grain of salt.

PS. These are my own opinions and I will not be held accountable for how they may or may not be perceived by other plimates.

We all need to pay attention to other people's posts though - there seems to be a culture building that the same people are being upvoted by the same people and they are the only stories making the front page give or take a few.

Fascinating, but they didn't exactly make something travel at 1+ c. From the sound of it, they managed to teleport some photons - impressive, but it's more of a loophole in relativity. Wasn't there a story a while ago about a similar loophole, that was used to make the front of a light wave move faster than the speed of light?

At the risk of outing myself as a huge Star Trek nerd, you can (according to my lay understanding of the subject) if you're able to generate a sufficient mobile gravitational field. Under such circumstances you can theoretically travel faster than the light outside of said field without violating the laws of special relativity.
