Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the majority of doctors FORBID pregnant women to get on airplanes:

A spokesperson for AirAsia confirmed: "A premature baby was born on our flight last night safely."
I noticed the kid was a premie... I would have no way of knowing if that wouldn't have been the case if the mom would have just not gotten on the airplane...

And what of Babies that are born in cabs en-route to the hospital, huh? I don't hear about those getting free cab rides for life...

It was very nice of AirAsia to do this for the baby and the mom, but I hardly expect this to become the norm... for the safety of the baby, the mom and the other passengers...

Oh yeah... those other hundreds of people who spend good money to travel by air inconvenienced...

Of on a tangent, it is very presumptuous of the airline to think that once the baby is old enough to travel of his/her own accord, he/she wont think that AirAsia is the most appalling airliner there is and forsake a free plane ride for better service...

When I had my kids the airlines generally drew a line at 36 weeks. My doctor 'strongly preferred' that I keep my butt on the ground after 32 and nothing longer than a 2 hour flight after 16. I stopped flying at all at 20 weeks out of personal preference (and I had nowhere to go).

I can't imagine flying that late into a pregnancy, though. Just the discomfort factor alone puts me off.

well am sure if there is a increase in births like this the airlines wont take a minute to stop such offers. these are the people who stopped putting newspapers to save weight ... (not a bad thing saves gasoline too)
