Parents of children with YTD pleading for health care reform.
Parents of children with YTD pleading for health care reform.
Day after day, upon arriving home from preschool, Caitlin would retreat into a bizarre fantasy world. Other days she would burst into singing and chase after imaginary objects. While some heartless people are skeptical, for those whose children carry the burden, YTD is all too real. picked by 2manyusernames 4 weeks ago

You've never heard of this? It's a serious disorder.

I think some of it can be chalked up to bad parenting though.

My little cousin was recently diagnosed with YTD and it's effect on his family has been just devastating. My uncle told me a particularly heart wrenching story about an incident that occurred during dinner when my cousin couldn't eat his food because he couldn't stop throwing it across the table. Stories like this really hammer home just how dangerous this disease can be. What's going to happen to my cousin if we don't find a cure for this? Is he going to have to live with his parents for the rest of his life so that they can make sure he eats all of his mashed potatoes?

I don't have a link handy, but I recall a particular study that showed heavy doses of barbiturates had an ameliorative effect with regards to the frequency and severity of YTD episodes. I really think we should explore this avenue of high-strength prescription painkillers more. After all, the potential cost is far too great not to.

Yeah I think this is really one of the diseases where medication is needed...but I also think that maybe with the right parenting it's diminished a little. Hopeless without meds though.

Reading this was like reading about my own childhood. I nearly broke down and cried, realizing that I, too, was afflicted with this debilitating condition.
I wonder if medical marijuana would help.

What a lot of people don't realize is that this disorder affects adults as well. I'm a longtime sufferer, and I'm so relieved this is gaining awareness.

Just yesterday, I caught myself skipping to my car instead of walking. I was so ashamed of myself. It's horrible how these episodes can just creep up on you.
