Scheduling is the new word for examining the inside of one's eyelids?

I redesigned the international flight crew scheduling system for Canadian airlines in the early 80s. Yep, those bids and schedules are damned difficult... which is why pilots worked on their schedules during their layovers and off hours. Never, never, never while flying!

Not a single pilot I ever worked with would have engrossed himself in what amounts to a personal matter while responsible for the safety of the dozens/hundreds of lives on their flights. I don't care why BOTH of those pilots were distracted - Boot their asses out the door, permanently!

Another article stated that the little black box only records the previous thirty minutes, and they landed over an hour after realizing they bypassed the airport. So it will be of little use.

mmmmmm,little black box. I really didn't want to say that, but I did. Anyway, I'd only be in the 'cockpit' for a few minutes.

they have enough electronics on board now. they should use some hard disk space to record and store 3-4 hours outside of the blackbox which i guess has a lot of dead weight from being burn proof etc) for times like this when there was no crash but still need a detailed recording.
