Actually, even if they were buckshot, and unspent, you could set them on fire, with shot and powder, and without the benefit of a shotgun barrel they wouldn't likely do much harm to anyone, any more than a fistful of high-dollar firecrackers.

Exploded, raw ammo is generally useless without being squeezed through a barrel to gain velocity.

You'd get random shot fired everywhere, whenever they go off, but nothing like a directed shotgun wound, for the most part.

While I think that zero tolerance is usually a bad idea, I can understand where the school is coming from on this one.

I wouldn't care as long as the student wasn't intoxicated. Empty containers won't hurt anyone.

You could actually do more damage with an empty liquor bottle than used shotgun shells. If the liquor bottle were glass, of course.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. Like the shells, they don't do anything. It's just a bottle, like the shells are just metal. They cannot harm anyone any more than anything you could find already on school property. Especially so long as the student was not intoxicated.

I just don't see the issue here. Zero-tolerance policies are lazy and don't help at all. It's something that makes for great feel-good legislation (or the like) but that's all it is.

Wet noodles are safe. I dont see how you could hurt someone with a wet noodle. Then again, I may not be creative enough.
