UHG!

I would think that the CHEAPEST way to bury someone would be to just... dump them...

I am surprised Wal-Mart doesn't offer that option...

There's not profit margin in that.

Are you kidding me? If anyone can make a profit on dump bags for the dead, Wal-Mart can...

And they already sell shovels and rubber gloves. It really is one stop shopping!

Our local Costco has sold caskets for years.

They are on display for a cash and carry deal.

Pretty fancy looking jobs too. Would make a decorative accent in any home, just put a fancy doily on it and you have a cocktail table waiting for instant use later.

Good for them. Even though their prices are lower than funeral homes the profit margin is still obscenely high.

Funeral homes take caskets that cost a couple hundred dollars and sell them for 1500, 1800, and more.

When your selling price is 8 times the cost you deserve someone to come in and undersell you.

Funeral homes are a freaking racket.

I don't know how our politicians are ignoring the obvious: If health care is too expensive, and Wal-Mart can sell anything cheaply, why not invite Wal-Mart to sell health care?

They could install doc-in-the-boxes easily, and they could handle 80% of the things you need from a doctor.

Worse yet, they're rackets that prey on people in a vulnerable situation. Unless you shop your funeral arrangements while you're alive, your family will have to do it in the couple of days immediately after your death. Mourning and rushed isn't the best way to negotiate a good deal.
