She obviously hasn't done enough research: Studies have *also* shown that those who have to continuously hide their emotions (such as flight attendants, for example) report a much higher degree of stress.

We aren't made to continually put on a happy face, to the point of denial of our true feelings.

Her knitted brow belies her smile.

Her smile doesn't look very genuine and it looks like she has a pained expression.

The first time that thing jabbed me in the head it would piss me off and the thing would go flying...

And probably poke someone's eye out.

Why would anybody want to be happy all the time?

Even worse, why would anybody want to FAKE being happy all the time?

That's depressing...Forcing a smile sometimes is good, but smiling fakely just means you fake emotions, and that's not healthy.

This isn't new. My wife knitted one for me years back. Except the spines didn't stab you in the head and it wasn't a hat, it was underwear. But other than that..

Put your hand over her smile and its pretty easy to see what emotion she actually had.

She could be right though! If I see someone forcibly smiling while someone holds a gun to their head it'll make my day ... cause, you know, she was smiling.
