Some of our old vintage action figures, train sets and matchbox cars that we played with until the paint rubbed off are now worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars in mint condition.
See... that's the thing... if you played with your vintage toys until 'the paint rubbed off' then it isn't in mint condition...

So you either don't play with the toy and have a some what crappy childhood to earn some cash when it becomes a collectors item...

or

Play with the damned toy until the paint rubbed off, had a great childhood brought to you by the adventures you had with your toy and that in itself is more priceless than a mint condition vintage toy that you wished you could have played with...
