Obama says don't jump to conclusions
Obama says don't jump to conclusions
Obama makes the common sense plea that we do not jump to conclusions on the motives of Major Nidal Malik Hasan. Allow the investigators to do their job first. picked by dslovesplime 3 weeks ago

1st conclusion:
you have a mentally ill man made rich by and given the world by the military. He rode that gravy train for all its worth, received a six-figure income, tremendous benefits, highly expensive training which would ensure his becoming an extremely wealthy man, most likely a millionaire and was a high ranking officer with all the extras involved with that who freaked out when it was expected that he make a small minute pay back for all the luxuries he was provided by going to Iraq to help his fellow Americans.

This freaked him out and angered him, not because he was a coward, no he wouldn't be facing an enemy. He would still be a psychiatrist getting even more money, sadly without the benefits of the easy life of living in the states.

2nd conclusion,
you have a f**king wacko

Was his mass murder spree connected to his religion? Who knows, probably not or only tangentially in that he didn't approve of the war.

We shouldn't jump to conclusions that his religion was involved, but at the same time we shouldn't refrain from investigating the possibility no matter how remote just because it isn't politically correct to do so.

You see, that's exactly what I asked Obama to do before he said that Cambridge Police Department acted "stupidly."

Glad he learnt somthing from it though.

Though the event was tragic, am I the only one that somehow finds it ironic that a doctor of mental health did this?

So he was born in America and he is a Muslim.
Since when do Muslims not approve of war? Not approving of war is an individual thing, not a religious thing. And in general, that doesn't turn a person into a mass murderer.
Not jumping to any conclusions, but I will have to go with your option #2 for now.

(and no sidran, you're not the only one)

Since you're bringing religion into the picture, seriously? When it comes to apparent blind-murder madness, what advantage do the religious labels have, other than to inflame a point?

Well, if we must, all their books, on both counts, mostly answer the same to me, but a whole lot of "whatever."

And nothing.

Six figures? Extremely wealthy? And a millionaire? As a major? Show me where to sign up for that!

Also, he's not really high ranking. Higher, but majors are really a dime a dozen.

Pay scale:

The most he could be making, unless he's getting some supplemental pay for being a psychiatrist (which could very well be the case) is about $80,000 a year.

Which is not bad...But as they say, if you're looking to become a millionaire, the military is not the place to do it.

Officer pay definitely keeps you comfortable, but you aren't going to get rich from it.

I will not make conclusions just yet, but I'm going to make a prediction:

No matter what the outcome, people already have made up their minds. Racial attacks will increase the next couple of weeks, and gun sales will as well.

His cousin said he was making a 6-figure income.

as far as millionaire, my statement was that he would become a millionaire - in other words in the future. The military paid for his training which he would turn into a huge windfall as a civilian

I agree with option #2 also at this time.

There are 10,000 Muslims serving in our armed forces.

I vote for wacko also but definitely need to wait for further investigation.

The military has a tuition reimbursement program for psych doctors. $140K for 4 years of service. He would be getting pay for his position as an MD not just the rank of Major. It is my understanding that the military actually put this guy through school and then he tried to break the contract after he finished school.

Exactly what I was thinking. But I guess he didn't jump to conclusions in making any judgements when Iranian protesters were dying in the streets.

That is a very fine diplomatic line. It would be unwise to start a third war while in the middle of two others.
