No wonder learning a new language can be more difficult the older you get. We were learning our individual languages before we were even born.
It seems that fetuses not only warm to the sound of mother’s voice as they gestate, they also are being programmed in the direct patterns inherent in certain languages. By the time we are born, our dialect is determined. picked by bingo 3 weeks ago

I thought we learned music in the womb.

With all the pressure we place on fetuses these days, it's no wonder so many suffer from Post Natal Stress Disorder.

I'd love to see more on this in regards to the Deaf community. If a mother does not speak, how does the infant's 'dialect' develop? or if the child is deaf?

well i would assume the mother would be around people who spoke at least some of the time, and that would help with dialect. if the child were deaf, then it doesn't matter much does it? I guess the heartbeat and other vibrations would be what the baby learns.
