I saw the gorilla.

(It might help to change the title of the post so people won't be expecting a gorilla. I saw this a while back though, and I wasn't expecting a gorilla then but I still saw it)

I don't get how anyone could not see the gorilla.

Me, too, but apparently only 10% of people did. You're above average, then.

I'm gonna leave the title as is, I think, because I mainly posted it for the article content.

I find this really interesting, especially as it pertains to stuff like eyewitness reports, everything from picking a alleged criminal out from a line-up to "firsthand" reports of phenomena like UFOs.

I would have to venture to say, after looking at the video, that even if I wasn't expecting it, I would have definitely noticed the gorilla...

I was channel surfing one day and Oprah did an experiment on the people waiting in line to see her show. They staged a guy stealing a woman's purse. The witnesses were later questioned by Oprah and they all have very different descriptions of what the guy looked like. Some said he was white, others black, he was a brunette, or he was bald, or he was wearing a hat, etc.

I was going to put a disclaimer when I typed that but I felt silly doing it. Guess I should have stuck with the disclaimer :P

I have watched Oprah a couple of times out of sheer boredom. I have never had cable and my television picks up four channels. Two of the channels play mostly sports, one plays soap operas, and the other one plays Oprah. What am I to do? (Don't say 'read a book' because I do read. I read about 95% more than I watch television)

We are so bombarded with advertising lately, I think we tune most "not required" information out.

In another study I've read, at the end of each college term, a proffessor would have all of the students in the class write a brief description of the hallway they had all used the entire term to reach that lecture hall. Every student described a 'different' hallway every time.

That's weird. I can describe the building most of my classes were in perfectly. I was usually early, so I would sit outside and just observe. I know that some bricks are differently colored, I know that the drain pipe next to a cone looks like a cartoon elephant. The trash can was missing for a week and it threw me off for a while. The chair on the left in the lobby has a tear in it. The magazines on the table are all old issues of the New Yorker and a couple Tribal College Journals. I noticed when we finally got new stop signs, and I noticed when they were missing three days later.

I haven't been there in two months . . .

I found this a little while ago. It didn't have any mention of a "gorilla" until after the video. I saw it, and then showed it to my lover. He didn't see it.
