Terrorist car bombs now equipped with children
Terrorist car bombs now equipped with children
Another example of the human filth we are fighting over there... to avoid suspicion at checkpoints, they're now blowing up car bombs with children in the back seat (the adults run off before the explosion). picked by BrownTrout 3 years ago

This isn't another one of those, "The red guard are storming hospitals and bayoneting the children" again is it?

I really do hate to be skeptical, because god knows it's not easy out there, but it just reeks of propaganda.

Well, because this sort of story has been circulated in the past in order to demonise the enemy. The example I gave above of reports of the Iraqi army storming hospitals and murdering babies was widely reported just prior to the latest invasion of Iraq and was *not* factual. It was merely propaganda to rouse support for the invasion.

Possibly another reason I'm a little skeptical is that I've got a small child, and it's easier to believe that a story like that is made up rather than believe that *anyone* could do that.

On top of that, I don't recognize the website.

Just a bunch of red flags that kind of added up to a sheepish question mark.

I just want to state again that I've got tremendous respect for our people over there. I'm not sure whether I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this one or not.

I meant, their country's children, the children of their nationality. Their children as opposed to the children of their enemies.

Breitbart is a pretty reputable source but I have to agree with you when it comes down to Iraqis doing this. I think they do place a higher value on their children. However, the article attributes the attack to Al Qaeda insurgents.

In light of all the other horrible things they have done, this doesn't seem that hard to believe.

A degree of skepticism is always good. Since every media outlet is quoting the same military sources, there may be some truth to what you say but I'm inclined to think it actually happened (unfortunately).

<sigh>

Well, let's just hope it doesn't start a new trend given that it just worked.

Understood... I still don't think the foriegn fighters (terrorists) in Iraq give a damn about anyone's children (certainly not about the people of Iraq).

Exactly. The same type of story ("They're killing CHILDREN!") was circulated amongst the hawks in America in order to gain favor of involvement in World War I. One of the best ways to paint someone as unchangeably evil (and therefore justifiably wiped out) is by saying they kill babies.

And another way is to actually expose that evil for what it is...

Besides, it's pretty hard to argue whether a bomb (did or didn't) go off in a children's school or a crowded market full of women and children. Or when a chlorine bomb indiscriminately kills everyone around it.

I'm not saying that this type of story isn't sometimes used to demonize the enemy. I am saying that we are fighting people who have repeatedly shown that they are capable of doing this and far worse.

In that respect, I'm inclined to give our guys the benefit of the doubt.

Unfortunately, whether this particular story is true or not, things of this horrendous nature do and have in fact occurred in the past.

My father was part of the Vietnam era/War, there were children then rigged with grenades in the hopes that a starving child would reach up for something from a sympathetic soldier, thus killing all in the immediate area.

It's a hellish reality, but one I wish were just untrue.

How sad, and how horrible it would be to lose a child, not only my own, but any child.
