 My Fault, I'm Female
My Fault, I'm Female
"MFIF (My fault, I'm female) is a blog that shares stories of women who've been made to feel it's their fault that they are female at work, at home, or wherever. Basically it's FML, but with sexist bosses, stone age attitudes, pay gap stories, and plenty of ranting." picked by 2manyusernames 1 year ago

A lot of these do seem MFIF.

But a lot of them also seem: Bad experience involving man = man hating woman.

Yes, women will always be considered lesser beings, and although a lot of them (us) indeed are lesser beings, so are a lot of men. Stupidity is an ailment that affects both genders equally.

Except men usually don't get their anger or frustration blamed on PMS, nor do they get accused of being hysterical or b***hy. They’re men, they’re allowed to be angry. It’s a manly thing.
Really?
(In my current job interview) my boss told me how he preferred to have men working in the technical sectors of the company because women were sometimes too temperamental on account of their periods. Yes. He did. To my face.
Ironic that male co-workers still come to me and my colleague (also a woman) to solve such problems as opening the battery compartment of a laser meter, configure email accounts, set up computer networks or—
(lord… just now my boss called me to explain to him what an ATT00###.txt attachment in an email message was and why he couldn’t open it! And he’s supposed to be an engineer. Wow.)

The point is we just want you to stop being condescending. A lot of us are dumb, but then others invent Kevlar. Same thing for men – some are wonderfully creative, smart and fun and others are not.

Just don’t forget one thing – most likely it was a woman (your mom) who taught you how to walk, talk, eat and provided you with all the basic training on how to be a functioning, self-reliant human being.
So we can’t all be idiots, right?

I had a customer, just the other day, (70-80 year old female) tell me that she needed a boy to get her bbq for her because I couldn't lift it. I know she wasn't meaning to be rude, but don't tell me I can't do something because I am female. You know what I did? I went into the back and grabbed a f**king bbq and put it on a cart for her!

I, for one, view women as equals. But I am also of a different generation than most of the men that are talked about in this blog.

I actually put in on the cart and got my supervisor to take it out. I had just had my TB test done and was worried about irritating it. My supervisor informed her that I put it on the cart and then asked her not to offend his employees :).

I fully embrace our society's notion that women are more emotional and irrational than men. My favorite place to see it in action is at a Saturday night hot spot in LA, around 1:30 a.m.

The women are all hysterical, trying to order a last drink or dance with their friends, as many of the guys are calmly and rationally pummeling the shit out of each other, losing teeth, and getting literally thrown out of the club over imaginary insults.

Men are only viewed as gay if they have emotions to OTHER MEN. Women want men to express themselves

I am a feminist the the sense that I believe in equality for BOTH sexes and also accepting that however some women may prefer not to child rear etc., but naturally it was what we are made for and vice versa. And I don't believe that makes me any less of a gamer or funeral director.

Sometimes I feel so powerless because of this "It's just a woman thing" blanket statement so I don't even bother trying to explain myself.

Yes, you’re right - the same way women can’t act like they’re self sufficient, or they’ll be labelled too butch or even (god forbid) lesbians – the bad kind.
I know those men who will call another guy gay for being emotional, I work, talk, deal with them every day. IMO, they have a severe inferiority complex and need constant reassurance from their peers. After spewing their idiocies they usually look around and seek approval from the other people present. Confront them when they’re alone and they’ll usually cower out (I’m speaking out of personal experience here, because I’ve done that and they turn into puppies when a 5’5” woman starts walking towards them, waving her finger).
They’re simply hateful people, the kind you just want to get away from asap.

But then you have the man who has character, who has a strong personality, who won’t spend his life whining, but in the appropriate situation will let go and display emotion.
I’m also lucky enough to know men like that and call them my friends; they’re some of the most reliable, kind and generous people I know.
It’s normal – and even expected - for a guy to get misty eyes when he’s holding his newborn child in his arms, or when one of his loved ones passes away, or when his heart is so ravaged he simply crumbles.
I’m sorry I had very little time to spend with my father, who was such a man. He died early in my life so I think I saw him cry only once. Other than think him weak, I felt more than ever that he was human and that he was my father.

I, for one, view women as equals. But I am also of a different generation than most of the men that are talked about in this blog.
That’s what more than half the human population of the world has been fighting for all this time. But you know, women are also to blame for allowing this kind of distinction to continue.
It really IS our fault, we’re female.

(sorry for the long reply, but I'm a woman, I talk a lot ;))

I had a funny situation at work today. I was talking to the manager on duty and a customer needed to ask a question. I turned around to see what he needed and he said "it's ok, finish, ladies rule!" It was pretty funny and kind of ironic since we have all been discussing this.

I'm sorry, what did you say? I wasn't listening. I have a firewall against 'blah'.

DEP, I just hope you never get to live with a pack of hyenas (sorry, pride of hyenas - they're closer to cats than dogs). You'd change your mind about incoherent rambling being a beloved female trait.
