Wow, this is such a Daily Mail story; "they don't make them like they used to..."; I'm surprised they didn't have knitting and kittens in it for the photo...

I was going to make a comment about the cost of running that old workhorse, then read he'd traded it in for a newer model. Good on him. Yes, products that last decades are most desirable, but good efficiency is part and parcel of good design.

And I'm no fan of the Daily Mail, but:

Pretty sure the production process for knitting and kittens hasn't changed all that much over the years.

If I had held on to my circa 1935 Electrolux vacuum I could be in the Daily Mail. But alas, I traded up to a modern Hoover.

In a bit of historical irony, however, the Mail (and the rest of the UK) would have still referred to your using your Electrolux as "Hoovering."

56 year old beer.

Personally, I wouldn't eat or drink anything that's been in there for 56 years.

That's like saying I don't really love women, just because I spend most of my free time in a rented van across the street from the high school, dressed as Tony Clifton.

wow..

long live that fridge..

today's stuff are really just for few months or years of life span..
Even not using the appliances will not help preserve them..
Those appliances that are made this days were not as durable as the stuff made before..

Wonder why? ..
So that people will buy again and again..

just saying.. lol
