This is the third such story I've read in the last year. The first was a woman who faked cancer to get money for breast implants because she was afraid her husband was losing interest in her.

I wonder why such stories are becoming more common.

She should be charged with fraud.

So should the daily snooze for calling Yonkers "upstate". It's just above the Bronx and being upstate myself, it's nowhere near here. It's less than 30 minutes from downtown Manhattan and 2-3 hours from where I am.

I'm simply stuck on how people can concoct stories like this and really think they will get away with it. There was even that woman a few years ago who convinced her own child that the child had cancer to reap benefits. Why would you do that? Ever? How is it worth it in any way?

*+ BB, thanks again.

Peter Griffin did something similar in an episode of Family Guy. It was to get a TV show back on the air.

I feel bad for their kid. The ex-husband admits to being physically abusive, and the woman, if she's lying, isn't the best person to be raising a kid either.
